?The 60's band Frumious Bandersnatch (with Ross Valory) finally release a CD, titled A Young Man's Song
January 29The Storm releases their second album, Eye Of The Storm, which includes Gregg Rolie and Ross Valory (Steve Smith left the band). Sadly the CD is only available in Europe, but available in North America as an import.
April 16Vital Information releases their seventh album, Ray Of Hope
April 18Steve Perry announces that Journey in is in the process of finishing writing new songs
April 18Congratulations to Jonathan & Liz Cain who delivered twins. A girl named Liza Alexandria and a boy named Weston Jon.
May 1(?)Journey enters the recording studio (Skywalker Sound Studios in San Francisco with producer Kevin Shirley) to lay down tracks for the new album
May 18Steve Perry announces that the new album my be kept 'on the shelf.' They plan to tour first, then during the concerts they will play some of the new material. (Although they eventually decided to release the album)
JuneJonathan's brother, Mugs, joins a new band, The Railbird, and they release their debut album (available only in Europe or as import)
July 26A DJ in Houston, announced that the release date for the new Journey album is tentatively set for October and will be titled Trial by Fire
AugustColumbia Records discontinues both of Steve Perry's "You Better Wait" and "Missing You" CD5s
August 19Steve Smith and Vital Information play the first of four performances to promote their Ray Of Hope CD. Steve also announces that the first song will be titled When You Love A Woman and that it will be a ballad.

The categories include Outstanding Song (When You Love A Woman), Outstanding Group, Outstanding Guitarist, Outstanding Drummer/Percussionist, and Outstanding Keyboardist/Synthesist.

December 12Steve, Neal, and Jonathan make the first of many radio interviews

January 6Journey is nominated for the Third Annual Blockbuster Entertainment Awards. Trial By Fire is nominated in the category of Group Classic Rock.
January 7Journey receives their first Grammy nomination. The song When You Love A Woman was nominated under the category of Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or A Group With Vocals.
January 11The promotional video for When You Love A Woman debuts on VH1's Top Ten Countdown at #6.
January 18Steve Perry records his last SPIN hot-line message. He informs everyone to visit Sony Music's web page.
JanuaryCan't Tame The Lion is released to rock stations.
February 26Journey does not win the Grammy award for 'Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal.' The Beatles won for 'Free As A Bird.'

OctoberAnnouncement is made by the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame that the original members of Santana (including Gregg Rolie) will be inducted into the RnR Hall of Fame in January 98. Sadly, since Neal Schon did not join the band until the forth album he will not be honored.
